If you're not from Texas you probably have no idea what Blue Bell Ice Cream is or why it's so damn good. They've started distributing it outside of Texas to a few lucky states but mainly it's a Texas thang. When my parents retired and moved to Colorado, the one thing they said they'd miss is Blue Bell Ice Cream. Not their kids - Blue Bell Ice Cream! So imagine my surprise when I received an envelope of Blue Bell wrappers in the mail from Lynn (Stamp Shack) in Florida. So for today's Texas Tuesday, I thought they'd be perfect.
Unfortunately, this card is sort of a mess. I really don't like yellow and find it very hard to work with it especially the pale, buttery variety. When I bought my crappy little house it was a nasty buttery yellow and that was the first thing I changed. So in my opinion, the colors here don't really work. I'm sure someone who enjoys the paler shades could do a much better job. So I took the Texas shape out of the new large Texas Collage stamp and colored it (probably a little too blue) as well as the background of the Vertical Howdy with Berol Prismacolors - reds and browns and then blended them. Inside the 'howdy' I added some yellow from my barely-used yellow pencil. Then I just layered everything onto the background of the ice cream wrapper. Lynn also included the wooden sticks that came with the ice cream. The ribbons were an afterthought and I thought they might distract from the color issue. Naturally I didn't have any pale yellow ribbon to chose from. Oh well, they can't all be masterpieces, right?
Speaking of Lynn and Stamp Shack - she's closing her store so if you're in the Fort Lauderdale area, be sure to stop by for some great bargains! I think she's closing at the end of September so you don't have much time!

Mmmm Blue Bell!!! One of these days I need to take the kids over there for a factory tour. :-)

When we first visited my sis in law in Humble in 1987 we got our first taste of Blue Bell. It was pralines and cream. OMG!!!
Needless to say, some of our visits back were strictly to try new flavors. Then we moved to Houston in 1992, it because a staple. Snapple's got nothin on Blue Bell!
The label in your card was instantly recognized and I totally understand your issue with this shade of yellow. But I think you did a good job anyhoo. JMHO

Love it! What a better way to cool off than with some good BlueBell ice cream. Just looking at your card makes it feel cooler!...and hungry for ice cream!
