Today is the day! A month or so ago, I sent all of the Texas Tuesday players one of my new stamps with the instructions to use it in today's post. Be sure and check out everyone's contributions - you can click on their names on the left. And the stamp can be found HERE with all the other new images!
Because I'm such an overachiever (ha - you have no idea how funny that is!), I managed to do two. This one is embossed in black on brown card stock. Then I painted it with bleach. Around the edges, I used bleach on a wadded up paper towel to get that leathery texture. Next the Texas shape is painted with iridescent watercolor - I think this was some sort of coppery brown and the star was painted in white. I left the background with the lyrics to Texas, Our Texas bleached. Cut out with deckle scissors, pop up the God Bless Texas with a little colored pencil around the edge and throw in a copper cord with a frayed end for good measure.
I went with a 'cuter' version for this one. It's just colored with Berol Prismacolors and then I added some other stamps for balance.
Maybe it's my Gemini nature coming through or maybe I really just wanted to have two totally different looks with the same stamp. After all, It's sort of my job to sell these suckers and versatility is a pretty big selling point for a rubber stamp. That's why it will be so interesting to see all the different points of view with the same stamp. And if you've managed to read all the way to the end of this post, I hope you'll be happy to discover that I'm giving one of these stamps away! All you have to do is comment on this post and I'll chose one at random. If you really don't want this stamp, don't comment. And don't respond by email! It must be a comment on this post! That's the only way I can keep everything organized - I'm just a man, you know!

I'm going to comment, but I already have it. :) Thanks! I had fun.
I love the faux leather look you gave to the first card with the bleach. I am going to have to try that technique out sometime.

I am so glad I am part of the "team" and so glad I now own this stamp! I love the leather look. I haven't used the bleach technique in a while, maybe I should? Love how both of your cards came out. Great job!

I have this but haven't used it yet - I used the larger background instead for the first attempt. Now I am inspired to go back and use this one. The bleach technique is one that I used in the past and then forgot. Thanks for the reminder!!

Mr. Overachiever! Yep, that is kinda funny, but you do have some fabulous stamps that I own many of. I'd love to own this one, too. Thanks for offering it to a lucky commenter.

Hey Mark, thanks so much for giving us the stamp to play along with! I love both of your cards but the first one really drew me in. It looks like Texas more to me, as it is rough and leathery looking and the copper wire just fits. See ya on the back 40.

I love your blog. You made me laugh out loud with your comments regarding Tim H. and your vacation. This is my first visit to your blog and I will be back for your humor and ideas.
As a Texan I will admit I love Texas stamps and have quite a few of yours but not this one. Like the way the bleaching made the paper look like leather. Will have to try bleach again soon. Would love to add it to my collection.

Love how you used the bleach for the leather effect, I'll have to try that. And the copper paint - very nice. Thanks again for letting us play with this stamp!

Well, I can see that I got here late and all the good "sassy" comments have been taken! I love the stamp and your cards but I have not seen the bleach technique before, so I will have to give that a try! I am a faithful blog follower and always come here for a smile...

Hey Mark! I love both the cards, but I'm partial to the bottom one - for my taste anyway. Please put me in for the drawing! Even tho I own (and use)several of your stamps already, I don't have this one - yet!
These Wednesday jaunts to chat with you are becoming addictive!!
