Copic Markers have been around for a few years now, right? People seem to love them and I must admit that I've seen plenty of amazing work using them. Well, I guess I've just never gotten on board the Copic train.
Anyway, I am perfectly happy with my Berol Prismacolor pencils and Tombow Markers but when I was in Florida, my friend Lynn gave me a crash course in Copics. So, no... the term "certified instructor" does not apply to me! But as with anything, if you just sit and play long enough, you'll figure it out. Anyway, although it wasn't an altogether unpleasant experience, I'm not sure I'm going to invest much of my hard-earned cash in an entire set of Copic Markers. And don't ask me what colors I used. Stamp Salado has some but I didn't really pay much attention to the exact colors - more proof that it's not rocket surgery.
That's the Weathered Wood stamp in Memento Cobblestone in the background. The gray shading around the Big Ol' Texas really makes it look really dimensional.
Can't say it was on my bucket list but now I can at least say I've tried Copics. Who knows... maybe I'll give them another try at some point. I do love how they smell - which probably means I should stick with Prismacolors...

Ha ha...they do smell nice!!! Great projects today, Mark! As for Copics, I do have a ton. I lucked into a lady in Canada having an entire Pampered Chef organizer FULL of them, plus extra stuff, for what one set would have cost. My DH hear me ooh and aah and bought them for me. HOWEVER, many days, I still reach for my Koh-i-noor pencils and mineral spirits! I'm not Copic certified either, and don't really see the need with all of the tutorials out there. Unless I plan to teach, which I don't! Have a great day - sorry I rambled...

Love your card today! Great job! I still use my prismacolor pencils, and gamsol for coloring. Copics were around the last year I was in business. Maybe I should have got some at wholesale prices .... but I didn't. For now, my pencils are just fine with me!

Neat card, Mark! Copics require way too much time to use since you have to use a minimum of 3 to get the affect and they are also waaaay overpriced for me. I will stick with my Tombows, Prismacolors, and chalks for coloring. I use a water brush and ink a lot too.
Would love to see what you come up with when high on Copic fumes!LOL!

Oh, hell, I guess I'm gonna have to get that weathered wood stamp. You've used it so very well. Big Ol' Texas just shines with that background. Copics are addicting. Who says you have to do all that blending like they show in the tutorials? Just use them however you want and they still make everything look good!

Great card Mark. I like how you colored the Texas. I haven't gotten into Copics much either, but I do have 5. I haven't used Gamsol, because the eco-friendly alternative is rather pricey, so my blending with pencils never looks as good as yours.

I have started taking a great class in the copic and love them. I also love the gamsol with the pencils and the dove pen with pastels. I received my VSN magazine yesterday and there on the front page was Mark's pickup stamp used. It was mentioned in several different articles. No wonder you can go and trave so much. LOL I only have 65 days to go before retirement, YEA!
