Well, it's Saturday, May 21. According to some people, the world ends today so I figured I had better get one more post in. I know you might think these people are nuts but if you think about it, doesn't every religion require their followers to believe something crazy? So let's not throw stones - at least not until tomorrow.
Meanwhile, for those of you who aren't completely offended and continue to read on....
Here are a couple of new cards with some of the new images that still aren't on the website or in any stores yet. Soon, I think. I hope. Depends on the apocalypse. This one is called Texas Flourish. It's embossed in black and painted with Twinkling H2O's - I hate even typing the word 'twinkling'. The background is all monochromatic in Rich Cocoa Memento and I used a wadded up paper towel to add the leather-like texture.
This quote from Sam Houston is also new. If you don't live in Texas, you probably can't appreciate it but I want to stamp it on everything.
If you live in, for instance,
just off the top of my head,
after an extensive 2 minute Google search of cities with funny names,
Jugville, Kentucky,
you could just not ink the "Texas" part and insert Jugville. Who knows? Maybe Sam visited Jugville and loved it.
Now a few words about this blog.....
Thanks for your comments! I do read them and enjoy most of them - a few negative comments would also be fun but I guess that's not what people do. I really don't take anything personally so even if you commented something really mean, I doubt it would ruin my day. Nor would the type of blogasm that people give Tim Holtz make make me dizzy with glee. Anyway, thanks for the comments and forgive me for not commenting on your blog. I'm busy, ok?
Secondly, if you're new to this blog try not to take me too seriously. I'm just typing whatever pops into my head and usually while enjoying a cocktail. I'm not Hero Arts or [fill in your favorite big stamp company here]. I don't have to follow the same rules as companies that have employees and reputations and who care what other people think. I'm just trying to sell some stamps and have a little fun in the process. Hopefully you'll get some ideas and realize that you can make stuff that's just as good if not better than some of the crap you see here! However, I make a damn good product that sells like crazy so if you don't like it, there might be something wrong with you!
But seriously, a monkey could do my job.
Hope to post more next week if I'm not dealing with the whole 'judgment day' thing. I'm going to be pissed if Oprah's last few shows get preempted...
Somehow, I don't see you watching Oprah...unless it's after SEVERAL cocktails! You really do make a good product, but here's something negative, just to make your day...I don't live in Texas! It would be really cool if you could branch out and do some other states - I don't think that's being done by anyone else. Just a thought. Of course, we will not be here to worry about it tomorrow, right? lol...You know, I try to live my life so that if today really IS judgement day, I'm okay with God and the world, and if it really isn't judgement day, then I'm still okay, and better off than many! Ha ha...I see that Curt made your "Blogs Better Than Mine" list! Yay Curt! Your cards are great - I did really like the wadded up paper towel leather look technique (say THAT after a few cocktails!), and I like the quote too. Have a good weekend, Sir Mark! I really do need to pop over and order a stamp from you - I need that fancy boot for a Christmas card for DD who actually HAS fancy boots like that. She lived in Brooklyn NY for a couple of years, and I could be very nice and say they were a gift from a man she was seeing at the time. True story is that in NY, whatever you no longer want/use/need, is put out on the street for folks to take, and Jeff 'took' the boots for DD! They were a perfect fit, and have been re-shod three times since, and look exactly like your boot :) Take care...

It's time to quit having cocktails and screwing off and get the new stamps where the rest of us can try them out. We might have even better ideas than yours - not likely but possible.

Whoo Hoo Mark! We love your blog, stamps, the fun cards you make and your sense of humor. I can't wait to get the new stamps in the store! Your blog is definitely better than mine for humor at any rate! Keep it up -- I like having an off the wall role model for blogging and card making.

Is everyone talking about the rapture? OK, now I get it. . .I thought we needed to look out for the raptors! I was hiding all day worried that those dinosaurs were going to come and eat people today. Rapture/raptor. . . (tongue in cheek in case you really think I am that stupid). Love the Texas start stamp. That looks awesome. It's funny, but every time I finish reading your blog I feel the need for a cocktail! LOL Best, Curt

Hopefully the world won't end before I pay you a compliment. Otherwise you'll never know how much pleasure I get out of your blog. There! I said it. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new stamps but if this is it, at least I got to see the cards you made.

You have a most delightful blog that always brings a giggle or two. Wonderful humor. I agree with Patti J's comment - you should consider making other state stamps too.

I'm with the lady who said branch out a bit and do other states. I know there are a few you like: Florida springs to mind...
Since I know you, I take almost NOTHING you say seriously. I do wonder when I read what you post here about poor souls who just don't know what a kidder you are!
I get most of my rapture from stamping....
