Hard to believe that I of all people might have some bones to pick, but I really haven't picked much lately! And if you're curious as I was about the origin of that peculiar phrase, according to The Word Detective,
"Bone to pick," which dates back to the 16th century, simply refers to a dog chewing endlessly on, and "picking clean," a large bone. A "bone to pick" is thus a subject or issue that is expected to require considerable discussion or argument. A similar phrase, "bone of contention," meaning an issue over which two people argue, also dates back to the 1500s and refers, appropriately, to two dogs fighting over an especially choice bone.
So, number one.... Why isn't Texas Tuesday EVERY Tuesday? This is Texas, dammit! Two Tuesdays a month just aren't enough! Besides, I've got some stamps to sell! Here's one of my new stamps. No, the new images aren't online yet and not even in stores because I'm a big fat slacker but I'll get around to it soon. In fact, I'm hoping that posting a few of the new designs will be the kick in the pants I need to get going. Don't hold your breath, though!
I know what you're thinking.... "That does not sound like a stamp from Deadbeat Designs!" Well, in a way, you're right. I think it should read, "Where flowers bloom, you'll probably find manure." But because Lady Bird Johnson was such an advocate for Texas wildflowers, I thought her quote was appropriate. I'm sure she would have liked my 'manure' version as well - she was married to LBJ so you know she had a good sense of humor!
Bone number 2. Can we please eliminate the phrase "sneak peek" from our vocabulary?! Am I the only irritated by this? First of all, it's never used correctly. For example, Tim Holtz has been giving "sneak peeks" of all of his new clip art stamps for a while, right? There is no SNEAKING! He is freely showing them! Just because words rhyme and sound cute doesn't mean they should be used, at least not by literate adults. Also "How cool is that?" Another annoying and overused phrase, and frankly a dangerous question since the answer is usually, "Not all THAT cool"!
Which leads me to bone number 3... What's with all the clip art images? Doesn't anybody do original anymore? From the comments left about the aforementioned "promotional views", you would think people were having blog orgasms (blorgasms?) over clip art that have existed forever! I swear he could sell shit on a stick and people would buy it!
Final bone - I just noticed on the back of the fig newton package that ONE serving size is TWO cookies! WTF? On what planet?! So much for a healthy snack - I should have had a damn Snickers!
Disclaimer:
For the record, Tim Holtz is very talented and a great salesman and I'm sure he makes millions of poor people very happy, bless his heart. He works way harder than I ever want to work and I'm just having a little fun and trying to sell some rubber. However, if anyone feels close to a blorgasm over any of my ALL ORIGINAL IMAGES, keep it to yourself! I have enough to deal with!
Oh, and I use the same phrase because I'm trying to get people to look at stuff that's comin'. From now on I'm gonna say "look at the stuff that's a comin'."

I believe you have penned a new word and I'm going to steal it and have a sneaky peaky on my own blorgasm. (I didn't spell peaky wrong)

I don't even know what to say to this. LOL!

DITTO. You crack me up. And I love love love the sentiment. As much as I hate the "sneak peek" thing..."Sneaky peek" is even worse. Or "sneaky peeky". Sounds like something an old man does outside a window. Ick.

No Tues-Steppin' from me today. I am in process of ripping out carpet from my living room/dining room. Only in Texas, have I seen carpet in the dining room. WUWT?
Ok, back to work. Have a good one!
