This week's Texas Tuesday postI was inspired by Tina's easel card from last week. She even has instructions if you've never done one before. Being the stamp whore that I am, I used one of my new stamps, the Large Texas Collage. It's a terribly unimaginative name but there it is. It was originally going to be the Big Ass Texas Collage but I thought I should save the 'big ass' moniker in case I ever do anything larger. It's simply stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on tan and again on white card stock. Cut out and color the white bits and add them to the tan piece with foam tape. Oh, and I stamped the weathered wood background behind the Texas piece - masking with a post it note - simple pimple. And then I sponged some ink on the windmill piece - easy squeezy. Either of these popped up pieces could also work on their own - just stamp and cut them out.
If you are wondering, I used the lyrics to Texas, Our Texas, which is our official state song... not The Eyes of Texas are Upon You, which is a common mistake. The lyrics are a little corny, but if any other state has a better song, I'd like to hear it!
Here's another version I did with iridescent watercolors. I can't tell if any brand is better than any others and since no one is paying me to use their products, I used whatever I have lying around. I used a medium brown card stock and embossed the image in black. Naturally the watercolors won't stick to the embossed image and I love how the colors shimmer against the darker background. I drew this stamp with the intention of layering something clever in the space under the windmill and maybe slightly on top of the lower left corner of the Texas piece. Apparently I was so into painting the damn thing, I forgot. Oh well... use your imagination - little greeting would fit perfectly!
Be sure and tune in to the next Texas Tuesday, August 3rd!
I recently sent all of the Texas Tuesday players one of my NEW stamps. Everyone will be using the same stamp but in their own creative way. Should be a lot of fun! And if the idea that everyone got a completely free stamp makes you green with envy, maybe you should join us. All you need is a blog and the enthusiasm to post Texas-related stamped projects twice a month. Who knows, I may have another give away one day!
Mark, I love your guitarmadillo cards. These Tues Steppers are stunning though. And I love them MORE!

I like the top one - the woodgrain & the colors behind the windmill - very nice! Looking forward to Aug 3.

I have to say I like the 2nd card best. That shimmer is so pretty.
